Javert has found a very useful tool in the basement of the Conrad. He has found a box with many people talking in English. He's been sitting there intently with his French-English dictionary, picking up what he can, slowly. The Common Room is host to a large number of things to keep any bored person occupied, and it is currently doing the trick for one Charlie Crews. Chicago is, admittedly, home to a variety of things that would put the Common Room's offerings to shame, but Crews has largely restricted his solo wanderings (no pun intended) to the Conrad.
